One of the tasks new agents have the most difficulty with is generating insurance prospects. Ineffective methods waste your time and cost you money. Follow these 10 steps to increase insurance prospects.
1. Get Into Prospecting Mode
Make time available just for prospecting, and don’t let distractions get in your way. You also must not procrastinate. Initially it won’t matter how long this time is, however time will tell how much time you will need daily.
2. It’s A Numbers Game
Each day dedicate a specific amount of time to calling as many new prospects as you can. Getting a new prospect and selling your services to him/her are directly related.
3. Setup Appointments
The goal for your prospect phone call is to arrange an appointment at which time you have the opportunity to sell your services. Don’t sell your products during the phone call, or the prospect will put their guard up. Leave selling to when you meet your prospect in person,
4. Know Who You Call
Make a list of the prospects you’ll be calling, because you want to your energy focusing on making the calls not finding names.
5. Dedicate Time To Prospecting
You’ll have better results if you dedicate a certain amount of time to just prospecting and you don’t allow yourself to be distracted by phone calls or meeting requests.” To become this dedicated takes a great deal of will power, especially in the beginning, but over time it becomes much easier, especially since you see the results.
6. Learn The Best Times To Call
To maximize results and conversion rates, learn the best time to call. This means determining when your prospects will be available to talk, even for a brief call. Don’t waste your prospecting times calling people on the list that are not available.
7. Mix Up Your Calling
Different prospects have different schedules, which means you’ll need to mix up your calling times whenever possible. By mixing up your calling times you’ll have a better chance of catching everyone.
8. Know-It-All
This is one time where it pays to be a know it all. Take notes on your prospects, contact information, etc. That way you will always know where you stand with a prospect. There are software programs available on the internet that will do this for you.
9. Visualize
Visualize what it is you want to achieve, and then put together a plan to keep track of your results. Knowing where it is you want to go and knowing how far you’ve come will keep you motivated and on track.
10. Persistence
Remember what Thomas Edison said? “Persistence is key.” Take Edison’s advice. You’ll be way more success if you’re persistent and continuously prospect 500 times than prospecting 500 just once every 3 months.
There you have it – these 10 step to increase insurance prospects will work for you too! But there’s one other way to increase insurance prospects and it’s a powerful method, which uses insurance leads.
